Faded Rose by Jane Maye

Faded Rose began as a page in my art journal, created while looking closely at a rose as it began to fade.

With delicate linework, softened colour and the small presence of a spider among the petals, it records the flower not at the height of its perfection, but at another moment in its life — when petals loosen, colours change and a different kind of beauty begins to emerge.

I have reproduced the original journal artwork as an A4 digital print, retaining the quiet, hand-drawn character of the original piece.
