Layers of muted blues, greens, greys and earthy tones create a quiet, slightly dreamlike landscape, with a small boat providing a solitary point of focus on the water.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe painting is connected to Abyssus, the book I am currently writing around a day beside a lake, and to my wider exploration of attention, landscape and what becomes visible when we allow ourselves to look without immediately trying to explain.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe surface retains visible brush marks and glimpses of the canvas beneath the paint rather than being worked to a highly polished finish. These are part of the character of the painting and its atmospheric quality.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe painting is presented in a distinctive vintage hammered silver-coloured frame, carefully chosen to complement the muted tones of the landscape.
